Repeat Excel Spreadsheet Column Headings at Top of Page

If you have a long list of data that spans over multiple pages, you can print column headers with the first part of the records on the first page and the rest of the records on other pages.

When you look at the first page, the column headers are at the top.

Because headers are printed only on the first page, keeping track of which data belongs to which header can be hard, especially when you deal with many columns.

Repeat row with column headers

If you want to print rows at the top of every printed page, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Page Layout >> Page Setup and click Print Titles.

  1. Click the Sheet tab.
  2. Click inside Rows to repeat at top: text field.
  3. Move your cursor outside the window and click the first row.

  1. Click OK or Print Preview.

The column headers are added to the second and remaining pages.

Repeat columns

Similarly, you can repeat columns. Let’s transpose the data to see what it looks like.

Select Page Layout >> Page Setup >> Print Titles and click inside Columns to repeat at left: textbox.

Click a cell inside the first column and press OK.

Now, if you try to print the sheet, the first column with headers is also copied to the next pages.
