Show Percentages in Excel Pie Chart

In this lesson, I’ll show you how you can get table values and display them as percentages inside a pie chart.

We are going to use the following data. You can copy and paste it into your worksheet.

ObjectRadius
Mars3.4
Mercury2.4
Venus6.1
Earth6.4
Pluto1.2
Ganymede2.6
Moon1.7

Add percentages to a Pie Chart

  1. Click any cell inside the table.
  2. Navigate to Insert >> Charts >> Pie Chart.
  1. Go to Chart Tools >> Design >> Chart Layouts >> Quick Layout. From the list of options, some of them will display percentages.
  1. Choose the way you want the pie chart to be displayed. I chose the second option.

If you choose to display names with percentages, some of these names can be outside the pie chart.

You can change it by grabbing one of the edges and making the chart a little bigger. You probably want to do it with the Shift key to keep the proportions.

Now, all the names are inside the chart.

The other way you can do it, without changing the size of the pie chart, is by changing the size of the font.
